| Bird Watching |
Lowland Tours |
|
We'll take you round the famous National Parks of Nepal, to remote campsites and off beaten tracks. We customise all our bird_watching tours to suit your needs, but our most popular tour is listed below: it combines the three most popular bird_watching tours of national parks into one. Of course you can mix and match as you like, and especially mix lowland with highland tours. |
| South central Nepal Chitwan National Park |

Royal Chitwan National Park is in a lowland valley in inner Terai. The Sapta Gandaki drains down through diverse vegetation - grassland, riverain, and Sal forest and through wetland habitat. This is home to Giant Hornbill, Bengal Florican, Red Headed Trogan, Blue Eared Kingfisher, Ruddy Kingfisher, and the threatened Slender Billed Babbler.
Chitwan is only 165 kilometers from Kathmandu , about 5 hour drive. We recommend staying in lodges within and besdie the Park, for a minimum for 3 days.
You can combine this visit to Chitwan Nationasl Park with elephant tours, dug out canoe trips, game drives ( depending on season) , and nature walks. |

| Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve |

The Koshi Barrage area in the south east Terai is by far the most significant of Nepals wetlands and in 1987 it was designated a Ramsar site of international importance for migrating wildflowl, wadders, gulls and terns. It comprises a large expanse of open water, marshes, grassland and scrub. As many as nine globally threatened species occur regularly here. For example Baer's Pochard, Imperial Eagle, Indian Skimmer, Swamp Francolin, Black Necked Stork.
Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve is about 500 km east Kathmandu. Best is to fly to Biratnagar.
There are no lodges so here we stay in tented camps

Royal Bardia National Park |

Royal Bardia National Park is another protected sanctuary, famous for Black Buck, a local endemic mamal. It is mainly forested with Sal mixed with deciduous and some pine, but there are also grass lands and riverine habitat. It is home to Great Slaty Woodpecker, Jerdon's Bushchat, Rufous-bellied Eagle. Over 450 species can be seen in Royal Bardia.
It is in western Nepal, over 500 kilometers from Kathmandu. Because of long distance and bad roads, it is advisable to fly to the local airport at Nepal Gunj. The park is just under a hundred kilometers from the airport a drive of 2 hours.
Once again we recommend a three day
|
Royal Sukla Phanta |
Royal Sukla Phanta is not so popular simply because it is far to the west - but it is famous for seeing the Bengal Florican, Singing Boose Lark, Hodgson's Bushchat.
The habitat is like Chitwan, but hotter.
Time permitting you can easily combine a visit to Royal Bardia with Royal Sukla. It's about a 4 hour (bird_watching) drive between each Park - including a stop at Ghoda Ghodi lake.
