This region is blessed with an incredible diversity of natural beauty and culture Grade 4 maximum  altitude 5000m. Due to its isolation and lack of teahouses this area still receives few trekkers. Sherpa Rai and Limbus are the main inhabitants in this area. From Tumlingtar we head to the Sherpa village of Tashigaon the last settlement in the region and enter the Makalu basin crossing high passes of Shipton La (4500m) and Barun La (4400m). From the high points, panoramic views of the Himalaya from Everest to Kanchenjunga to the east, Tibet and the huge south face of Makalu to the north, reward the trekkers.
