Expeditions overview  All mountaineering expeditions and peak climbing are run with professional mountain guides and Sherpas. This category is similar to challenging treks, but also includes basic mountaineering above the snow line, using ice axe, crampons, ropes and necessary climbing gear under the supervision and instruction of the climbing leaders/guides.
You need psychological and physical stamina and prior experience is certainly an advantage, but not essential. A minimum of 30 days is needed for the preparation as well as the mountaineering time of any expedition. The cost of expeditions varies considerabley: on the hieght of the mountain, and the size of group, and the Government fee. But to give you a rough idea, the total cost - including government fee - may range from $5,000 and £10,000 for one person. Government fees vary considerably. The most expensive, of course is for Mount Everest: $50,000 per person. The other mountain fees depends on the height of the mountain. For up to 7 climbers: Above 8,000 : $10,000
