Annapurna is the most popular and famous trek in Nepal, with good reason: its variety of rich Tibetan, Thakali, Gurung, Magar, Brahmin, and Sudra cultures, its stunning landscapes and geology, its huge mountains draining into the worlds deepest gorge, the Kali Gandaki, the ancient salt trading route that for centuries connected the Himalayan Kingdom of Tibet with the plains of India.
This trek leads you to north-east of Pokhara up the Marsyangdi valley over the Thorong pass (5416m), from where you can climb the Pisang Peak (6091m) then down the Kali Gandaki.
It encompasses a stay at Annapurna Base camp at 4200m from where you can see Mt. Annapurna I-IV and Mt. Machapuchhre. The Annapurna sanctuary has been treasured by local inhabitants as a place of spiritual refuge since long before trekkers arrrived. A natural amphitheater, ringed by Annapurna South (7219 m.) and Varahashikar (7847 m.) Gangapurna (7485 m.) and Machhapuchhre (6993 m.) it serves as base camp for expeditions as well as a favorite trek destination for mountain lovers.
