 Rolwaling valley is valley that neighbours the Everest region. It has a similar culture to the Sherpa and it was from here that Padma Sanbhawa is supposed to have travelled up to Tibet.
Rolwaling is the east-west valley below Gaurishankar (7145m.), just south of the Tibetan border. As such this region is isolated and most interesting. Most treks conclude their visit to Rolwaling by crossing the Tesi-Lapcha Pass (5755m.) into Khumbu. A crossing of Tesi Lepcha is best made from Khumbu into Rolwaling.
