Mustang is the called the Forbidden Kingdom - as such is is not forbidden but restricted, boardering Tibet/China. The trek is perhaps the last route of undefiled Tibetan culture. Isolated from the rest of the world, Mustang has been able to evolve its own distinctive culture and tradition. Lo-Manthang, the capital is a walled city ruled by a religious King. Untouched by modern civilization, life in Mustang goes on as it has for centuries in an unhurried pace.
A permit is necessary into this restricted Kingdom, $70 per person a day, for a minimum of 10 days with maximum of 13 days in Upper Mustang, and a minium of 2 people.
The best seasons are September to November and March to April
